Moving Beyond Traditional Plastics

 

When it comes to discarding waste, we are becoming more aware of the hazards and negative impacts of traditional means of disposal — namely, plastic garbage bags. The very attributes that once made plastic so appealing — tensile strength and durability — have also become its downfall. Traditional plastic garbage bags, due to their long lifespan in landfills, contribute to persistent litter and environmental harm.
At Corporate Facility Supply, we believe plastic must evolve. But unlike some who have turned to oxo‑degradable plastics, we have chosen a different path. Oxo‑degradable materials break down into fragments that can persist in the environment, raising concerns about micro-plastic pollution and long‑term ecological damage. For us, that is not a sustainable solution.

Our Commitment: Sustainable Alternatives
Instead of oxo‑degradable plastics, we focus on solutions that are:
•     Truly recyclable and circular — designed to re‑enter the raw material stream without compromising quality.
•     Compostable where appropriate — breaking down into safe organic matter under industrial composting conditions.
•     Compatible with recycled content — ensuring our products support and strengthen existing recycling systems.
•     Environmentally responsible — avoiding additives or processes that create hidden risks to soil, water, or biodiversity.
Why This Matters
•     Traditional plastic garbage bags can remain in landfills for upwards of 50 years.
•     Oxo‑degradable plastics may fragment faster, but they do not solve the underlying issue of plastic pollution.
•     By investing in recyclable and compostable technologies, we help reduce waste without introducing new environmental hazards.
